In real life, the Mercury Montclair manufactured by the Ford Motor Company, was only built between 1957-1958 when it was superseded by the Mercury Park Lane. The car came as a 2-door and 4-door hardtop although in 1957, a convertible was produced which served as the pace car for the Indianapolis 500 of that year. The convertible was subsequently introduced as a production model. The Mercury Montclair contained many unique features including the gold trim strip in the car's rear fin, which our Oxford model faithfully replicates.
